Outsourced IP Communications for Business Seminar

Attendees from many global businesses were in both London and New York yesterday (Thursday 3 November 2011) to experience live demonstrations and listen to expert speakers at the Outsourced IP Communications for Business Seminar.

Led by Gage Networks and sponsored by their partners Polycom and Cable&Wireless Worldwide, the seminar was simultaneously presented from the Polycom Executive Briefing Centre in London and New York using the latest video conferencing technology.

The event was opened by Polycom's Vice President for UK and Ireland, Elton Birden who introduced speakers Andrew Davis, Natalie Stewart, David Kennedy and Lisa Healey from Gage Networks; Tony Wicks from Cable&Wireless Worldwide; and 3D specialist Pete Rogina from Enchanted Glass Entertainment.

Through a number of presentations the event explored 22 Industry Insights, covering topics such as; what is a Cloud service?, the Hybrid Cloud, convergence using Class of Service (CoS), the concept of layers (including TCP/IP, SIP and RTP), what is MPLS?, frequencies and hearing, high definition (HD) audio, common IP voice quality issues, the multi-location Cloud Contact Centre, Telepresence and 3D Past, Present and Future.

Gage Networks demonstrated a number of their IP Telephony, Hosted Call Centre and Video Conferencing solutions, including audio conference calling, high definition (HD) voice vs standard definition, contact centre agent login, contact centre queue calls and overflow and contact centre monitoring through Queuemetrics.

During the seminar attendees were invited to experience Polycom's immersive telepresence solutions, including the Open Telepresence Experience™ (OTX™) and RealPresence™ Experience (RPX™).

The seminar closed with the ultimate live demonstration of Cloud Communications – a multi-way video conference using 11 devices from five global locations, including Polycom HDX units, VVX 1500 desktop video phones, an HDX 4500, a number of iPads and an iPhone – all in HD and over the Cloud Communications Platform.
